Recognizing Warning Signs
Changes in behavior, withdrawal from others, expressions of hopelessness or feeling like a burden, increased substance use, reckless behavior, or talking about death or suicide can be signs that someone may be struggling.

Start the Conversation
If you are concerned about someone, reach out and ask how they are doing. Listen without judgment, let them know you care, and take what they say seriously.

Encourage Support
Encourage them to connect with a mental health professional or another trusted source of support. You can offer to help them find resources or accompany them when appropriate.

Stay Connected
Continue checking in with the person. Let them know they are not alone and that you are there to listen and support them.

If You Are Concerned About Immediate Safety
If you believe someone may be in immediate danger, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate, life threatening emergency, call 911.Â
